ABOUT US

We’re a small school-based business, located in the small town of Koo Wee Rup in South East Melbourne. This business was created for our classes “$20 Boss” project, where we needed to present a business idea and create a business with only $20.

Hook, Shine n’ Tinker was created by myself (Indy Murray) and Charlie Hobson, we go to Koo Wee Rup Secondary College and were in year 11 VCAL. This year Charlie is studying business in TAFE and I am studying Agriculture.

During Melbourne’s second lockdown in 2020, my passion for music and art came together to build a wall mounted hanger for my ukulele. When it was announced to myself and Charlie’s class that we would need to create a business, we weren’t too sure what to do. After school that day, I went home and saw my ukulele hook and talked to Charlie about a potential business idea. That’s where the idea for “Guitar Buddy” came into play but most of our teachers told us that there’s not a very broad audience and that it might be difficult getting sales. One teacher in particular talked to us about maybe making pieces that would target a wider audience, so that’s where “Hook, Shine n’ Tinker” originated from.

We specialise in guitar and other stringed instrument hooks, but also make hooks for homeware like keys, hats, coats and more. Customers can message us via our Instagram or Facebook page to inquire about other hook ideas.
